Raw Product

Show notes

The article 'Half-Baked Product' clearly illustrates the chasm between a founder's ambitious vision and the complex reality of product development. A passionate engineer gains the freedom to create the 'perfect' oven, but soon discovers that an algorithm for breads, cakes, and pizzas is much harder than it seems. With an MVP that fails 2/3 of the time, the founder secures millions, promising to dominate the market. The engineering team, realizing that the product would only work well by focusing on two of the three categories, proposes a sacrifice. The answer? No. The promise to the VCs was the entire market, and the choice is between which promise to break.

Why it matters: This exposes the constant tension between market vision and technical delivery capability, and how ambitious promises can compromise product quality and viability.
